Environmental Highlights-KapStone Roanoke Rapids Kraft Mill:

• Zero Environmental Incidents in 2005-2008
• 75% of steam generated by biomass fuels.
• 50% of electricity used is generated on-site (38% of total from biomass).
• 67% reduction in chemical soda loss 2005- 2008 through recycle, process modification, and conservation measures.
• Toxic Release Inventory reductions of 58% since 2004.
• Implementation of Environmental Compliance Management Systems (ECMS) in 2006
• Reduction in Solid Waste: 33% reduction since 2004.
